  16. Ancient Domains of Mystery (ADOM for short) is a rogue-like game, which
  17. means, that it is a single-user game featuring the exploration of a
  18. dungeon complex.  You control a fictional character described by race,
  19. class, attributes, skills and equipment.  This fictional character is
  20. trying to achieve a specific goal (see below) and succeed in a difficult
  21. quest.  To fulfill the quest you have to explore previously undiscovered
  22. tunnels and dungeons, fight hideous monsters, uncover long forgotten
  23. secrets and find treasures of all kind.
  24.         During the game you explore dungeon levels, which are randomly
  25. generated each game.  You might also encounter certain special levels,
  26. which present a particular challenge or are built around a certain theme.

  30. "After 6000 years of peace the beautiful world of Ancardia is once more
  31.  threatened by the forces of Chaos.  Dark and sinister beings emerge from
  32.  a huge dungeon complex hidden in a remote mountain range known as the
  33.  Drakalor Chain.  They plunder, burn and kill everything they encounter and
  34.  pose a serious threat to all life on Ancardia.  The famous sage Khelavaster
  35.  finally managed to locate the dungeon complex which seems to be the origin
  36.  of all evil.  Scores of adventurers travel to those ancient and mysterious
  37.  dungeons to face whatever might be lurking in the vast depths of the 
  38.  complex."

  41. and fortune, have started on a quest to save your world.
